Heine Plan is based in Hamburg and employs around 40 people. The studio is recognised for its strong profile in urban transformation and the redevelopment of existing buildings – areas that play a central role in Verka Collective’s long-term strategy.
“Heine Plan brings a strong architectural identity and deep expertise in urban transformation. This acquisition significantly strengthens our collective capabilities and opens new opportunities across markets,” says Sonja Stockmarr, Chief Commercial Officer at Verka Collective.
Heine Plan joins a European collective
For Heine Plan, joining Verka Collective represents an opportunity to build on its existing strengths while gaining access to a broader professional platform across Europe.
“We were immediately convinced by the idea behind Verka,” says Julia Strunk from Heine Plan. “As an office with 40 employees, it was clear that we had to respond to the growing demands of AI, sustainability, and building regulations. So we went in search of partners. Growing big and remaining agile, leveraging economies of scale without losing our own DNA – we saw that in Verka.”
The studio will continue to operate under its own brand and leadership, while becoming part of a wider network of architecture practices sharing knowledge, resources and market access.
Establishing a foothold in Germany
With Heine Plan joining the collective, Verka Collective expands beyond Denmark for the first time. The acquisition provides access to the German market while strengthening collaboration across brands and borders within the collective.
Urban transformation is a key focus area for Verka Collective, and Heine Plan’s experience in this field is expected to benefit both local projects in Germany and cross-border collaborations throughout the organisation.
“We see the transformation of existing buildings as one of the most critical disciplines in contemporary architecture. Heine Plan significantly reinforces our position in this area, and we believe the acquisition will create value for the entire collective,” Sonja Stockmarr adds.
Local presence, European scale
Verka Collective’s ambition is to combine strong local market presence with the scale required to compete and innovate at a European level. The individual studios remain close to their clients and markets, while the collective enables shared capabilities within sustainability, project management and emerging technologies.
“We aim to be both small and large at the same time – locally rooted, yet strong enough to take responsibility for the complex challenges facing our cities. By opening Europe as a shared market, we create a platform where architecture can play a greater role in society,” says Frants Nielsen.
With the acquisition of Heine Plan, Verka Collective has taken the first step in a broader acquisition programme, and additional European studios are expected to join the collective in the coming years.
