In its motivation, the jury highlighted Reiulf Ramstad’s remarkable ability to create architecture that engages deeply with place, context, and culture:
“An architecture that works with the particular rather than the general. With the edge of the country. With places where landscape, history, and everyday life are already present, but where architecture can help gather, sharpen, and renew meaning.
Reiulf Ramstad Architects do not create destinations in the easy sense. They create places where you want to stay a little longer. Where you see the landscape a little more clearly. Where cultural heritage does not become a museum, but a material that can be further developed.
Their architecture has a rare duality. It is distinctive, but not loud. It is site-specific and sensory, but not nostalgic. It is internationally legible, yet deeply rooted in local conditions.”
The award recognizes a body of work that has consistently demonstrated a thoughtful and enduring approach to architecture—one that balances strong architectural identity with sensitivity to landscape, history, and community.
Following the award ceremony, colleagues, collaborators, and friends from across the industry gathered to celebrate at Reiulf Ramstad Architects’ Copenhagen studio, where Verka Collective is also proud to be based.
The Nykredit Architecture Prize has previously been awarded to some of the most influential figures in Nordic architecture, including Jørn Utzon, Henning Larsen, and Jan Gehl.
